The High Court In Lilongwe is today expected to start hearing a case involving four Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) top officials led by leader of opposition Kondwani Nanhkumwa who are challenging their firing from the party.
Nankhumwa, alongside party secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey, Treasurer General Jappie Mhango and Mulanje West Legislator Yusuf Nthenda were all expelled from the party by the Central Committee on grounds of gross misconduct.
However the 4 proceeded to obtain an injunction stopping the party’s decision.
Last month, the case failed to commence at the High Court after the Defence lawyer asked for extension of time on the matter, arguing that his client was busy with postmortem meetings with leaders of the party on district level.
