Police in Lumbadzi have arrested a 52 year-old man for the offence of giving false information to a public officer.
Reports say on 28 November 2020 at about 21:00 hours, the suspect reported to police that his 1 year and 4 months old daughter living with albinism had been abducted by Chancy Banda and Kennedy Kachepatsonga both of Zera village.
When the issue was followed up, it was discovered that the suspect’s family had no child living with albinism.
However, it is alleged that the suspect had family disagreements with his wife who on that day ran away together with the child for safety reasons.
In clearing up the mist, Lumbadzi police through its criminal investigation department and community policing branch traced the whereabouts of both the mother and child.
The suspect will appear before court soon to answer a charge of giving false information to a public officer.
