President Lazarus Chakwera has challenged councilors in Lilongwe to take a leading role in keeping the city clean.
Chakwera made the calls during an interface meeting with the councilors in which the President was appreciating efforts by local authorities in supporting government agenda.
Chakwera said it is imperative for councilors to join the efforts in keeping the city clean.
Chakwera then challenged councilors to provide expertise on how affairs of the council should be managed.
And in an interview, John Chome Chief Executive Officer for Lilongwe City Council said the council has put in place several plans to keep the city clean.
Chome has also revealed that in its strategic plan they plan to construct one big market in Lilongwe.
