A 16-year-old pupil in Zambia has chocked to death during an eating competition and school farewell party.
The pupil was a grade nine at Chabanyama Combined School in Chingola.
Copperbelt Deputy Commissioner of Police Bothwell Namuswa confirmed the death of the pupil to local publication Mwebantu.
Mr Namuswa identified the girl as Happy Kaishala.
He said the pupil is suspected to have died from choking during a scripture union group eating competition and Grade nine farewell party at Chabanyama Combined School.
Mr Namuswa said when the pupil was rushed to Chawama clinic, medical personnel certified her died.
“The incident happened on December 4, 2020 at around 15:00hours.The body is in Nchanga North General hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem as relatives suspect foul play,” he said.
