President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Dr. Steven Kayuni as Director of Public Prosecution replacing Mary Kachale, wife to Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Chifundo Kachale.
Kachale has been deployed to the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), according to information at hand.
The reasons for the Kachale’s deployment is not yet known at the moment.
Weeks ago President Chakwera expressed concern over delay by DPP to arrest suspects who messed up the May 21, 2019 Presidential polls despite the Constitutional Court accusing MEC led by Jane Ansah of failing its duties in managing the polls.
