Minister of Civic Education and National Unity Timothy Mtambo has refuted allegations that he has bought Tankers within the period he has been Minister.
Dismissing the allegations via his official Facebook page, Mtambo said he has no knowledge of the said Tankers and that he has never seen them expect on the pictures that are circulating on Social media platforms.
“I know nothing about the Tankers shown in this picture. There are claims that these are my Tankers and that I have purchased them within the period that I have been a Minister,” Mtambo said.
Mtambo refusal of owning the Tankers, comes after social media platforms were awash with reports that the Human Rights advocate cum politician purchased the Tankers further alleging that he has leased the Tankers with Gaffar Transport.
“All these allegations are not true. I don’t own these Tankers. In fact, I have never seen these Tankers except today in these pictures. I have never made any transactions related to purchase or lease of Tankers,” stressed Mtambo.
Mtambo became a household name following his successful demonstrations when he was heading The Human rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) which was the most critic of Former President Peter Mutharika and his Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
He later, quit being a Human Rights advocate and joined front line politics and endorsed Tonse Alliance which was formed by 9 political parties including Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Vice President’s Saulos Chilima United Transformation Movement (UTM), and formed his movement Citizen For Transformation (CFT) in which he is the Chief In Commander.
Mtambo was appointed as Minster of Civic Education and National Unity, by President Lazarus Chakwera after winning the June 23, 2020 fresh Presidential Polls.
