Police in the Eastern Region are looking for Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Commissioner Linda Kunje for allegedly hampering with President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy on Thursday.
Eastern Police Region spokesperson Joseph Sauka confirmed of the development adding that Kunje defied traffic order when traffic police officers asked her to stop her vehicle to pave way for President Chakwera.
On Friday, police arrested Kunje’s driver Jones Teresa for the same offense of not paving way for President Lazarus Chakwera who was on his way to preside over graduation ceremony in Zomba.
According to reports, Kunje was on board when her driver allegedly did not adhere to traffic orders from the police officers.
In her remarks after the arrest of her driver, Kunje described the arrest to be influenced by politics arguing that she is since considered to be aligned with the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
