Chaos broke out Friday morning at Namanjalala Village in Trans Nzoia West, Kenya after police shot dead a male university student who blocked the officers from pouring out his father’s illicit liquor.
The cops, who were cracking down on illicit brew traders, raided the deceased’s home in the wee hours of Friday.
The Second-Year Bachelor of Education student at Kibabii University attempted to block the officers from pouring out his father’s alcohol, resulting in one of the police officers fatally shooting the 20-year-old man, the deceased’s mother, Jacqueline Namalwa, told K24 Digital.
Following news of the learner’s killing, irate villagers Friday morning stormed Namanjalala police post and attempted to set it alight. Police were forced to fire teargas to disperse the angry crowd.
The student’s father said he was relying on the brew business to raise his son’s university fees.
“I had actually paid his first semester fees, and he was set to return to school in January 2021,” said the boy’s father.
The deceased, Eugene Sebastian, was taken to a local Hospital morgue.
