Police in Lilongwe have arrested 3 people in connection to the demonstrations that have been organised by CDEDI and Small scale business operators this Friday.
The 3, are Andrew Tepeka, a small scale business operator in Lilongwe as well as two others Edward Ngalande and Kephas Joel who were hired as drivers have been arrested while mobilising residents to take part in the demos.
Meanwhile, reasons for arrest have not been given.
CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa has since told MIJ Online that he is surprised with the trio’s arrest as organisers already notified the city council about the demos and the council gave them a go ahead.
CDEDI and Small scale business operators have among others organised nationalwide demos on 18th December, to protest against massive presence of foreign nationals who are operating small scale businesses in different localities.
