President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has ordered that long serving Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, be accorded “military honours.

The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) said in a statement signed by Zanga-zanga Chikhosi released on Thursday made available to faceofmalawi.

The remains of Ziyaye who died in Namibia on the wee hours of Monday will arrive in the country today through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe.

Ziyaye will be laid to rest on Sartuday after a requirement mass at Civo Stadium.

Bishop Ziyaye will be the first to be buried inside the Cathedral.

According to Catholic doctrines, a Bishop who dies while still in office can be buried inside the church or at a special resting place specifically prepared for Bishops.

Only retired Bishops are buried at places set aside for catholic priests and nuns.

Bishop Ziyaye was born on 19th May, 1949 at Khombe Village, Ludzi Parish, Mchinji District and died on 14 December while recieving treatment in Namibia.
