President Lazarus Chakwera has pledged continued support to the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) to ensure it is well equipped to professionally discharge its duties.

Chakwera was speaking during the commissioning of 56 officer cadets who were graduating after undergoing 9 months training at the Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) in Salima.

The new officers include 40 men and 16 women along them medical doctors, teachers and engineers among other professions.

Chakwera congratulated the MDF for remaining professional despite being disregarded by previous regimes.
