President Dr Lazarus Chakwera will this Saturday attend the funeral service for Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, the Office of President and Cabinet has announced.

Ziyaye died in Namibia this week where he was receiving medical attention.

On Thursday, the Malawi leader directed that the fallen cleric be buried with military honours.

The body of Ziyaye arrived in the country on Thursday through Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe.

Among notable faces that welcomed the body of Ziyaye were Speaker of the National Assembly, Catharine Gotani Hara, presidential advisor on religous affairs, Rev Brian Kamwendo, Lilongwe City West Constituency MP, George Zulu.

Bishop Ziyaye will be laid to rest this coming Saturday inside Maula Cathedral.
