Police in Lilongwe have arrested three men suspected of breaking into NRC (Luanar) Campus hostel and stealing five laptops.
The three, Edward Mayere, 29, Harrison Kachingwe, and Rafik Ndovi, 28, were arrested on Monday morning.
At the time, the three broke into the hostel using unidentified keys and stole five laptops.
As they were heading to their vehicle, Daihatsu Essey registration number NE 8747, they were immediately detected by some students.
An angry mob severely assaulted the suspects and later set their vehicle ablaze.
Police rushed to the campus and rescued the suspects.
Meanwhile, the suspects are still under police custody.
They will appear in court soon to answer a charge of breaking into a building and committing a felony therein.
Mayere comes from Namera Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Jalasi in Mangochi District, Kachingwe is from Khamukani Village, T/A Njolomole in Ntcheu District and Ndovi hails from Mpikisi Village in T/A Sitola’s area in Machinga District.
