Former president Joyce Banda has called for concerted efforts if the battle against gender based violences is to be won.

The plea was made in Lilongwe during the launch of national level Beijing+25 consultation and 2020 SADC gender barometer.

Banda former has expressed the need for concerted efforts for gender based violence to come to an end.

Meanwhile, Shigeki Komatsubala, Resident Representative for United Nations Development Programme has hailed Malawi for registering great strides in trying to achieve sustainable development goal number five on gender equality.

And on her part, Emma Kaliya Executive Director for Malawi Human Rights Resource Centre has called on authorities to start implementing available legal instruments as one way of trying to end gender based violence.
