A 40 year old man in Uganda is under police detention over allegations of killing his 16 year old daughter whom he accused of fornication.
Police has identified the deceased as Apio Lilian, a resident of Alaka village, Amolatar district in Uganda.
Police investigations reveal that the suspect accused her daughter of having an affair with a man who is a resident of Kiryanga Village in Acii subcounty.
“The father accused the daughter of repeatedly escaping from home to meet a boyfriend” said Mr Jonathan Akweteireho, the Amolatar Deputy Resident District Commissioner.
Security investigations have gathered that on December 23, the deceased went to the boyfriend.
“Upon her return- home, the enraged father reported her to the LCI chairman of Alaku village,” Mr Richard Oling, Deputy RDC said.
The LCI Chairman and the father agreed to banish her from the home and directed her to return to her boyfriend’s place.
On reaching the boyfriend’s home, he reportedly escaped from his residence leaving the girl alone.
On boxing day, the girl again reportedly disappeared from home and returned to home the next day only to be tortured by her dad.
“The neighbors witnessed the torture as the father battered her daughter” said Mr Jacob Chepskol, the Amolatar district police commander.
The father reportedly dragged Apio into his house where he reportedly continued to torture her as she wailed and cried for help.
The concerned residents reported the incident to Police which stormed the father’s house.
Upon conducting the search, Police found Apio murdered and her body lying in a pool of blood.
“We discovered that he allegedly pushed a stick into her private parts” the DPC said.
The suspect was arrested along with his son who was giving him sticks he allegedly used to torture the girl. They are detained at Amolatar Central Police Station pending conclusion of investigations.
According to Mr Akweteireho, the suspect allegedly inserted a stick into her private parts and hit it using a harmer to push it deeper until she breathed her last.
“We condemn this gruesome murder which is yet another incident of abuse of rights of girls in our district” Akweteireho said.
He said leaders had launched a campaign against domestic violence which is rampant in the district.
