Donald Trump has been named America’s most admired man in a prestigious poll that previously awarded the gong to Barack Obama for 12 years in a row.

The President of the United States was top pick of 18% of respondents to the survey by polling company Gallup – 3% more than the 15% who picked former President Obama. President-elect Joe Biden was in third place, with 6%.

America’s top Covid expert Dr Anthony Fauci came fourth, with Pope Francis fifth.

Meanwhile, former First Lady Michelle Obama was Gallup’s most admired woman, after being chosen by 10% of 1,018 people surveyed.

Kamala Harris soon to be America’s first female vice president came second.

Current First Lady Melania Trump was third, Oprah Winfrey fourth, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel fifth.
