A man in Uttar Pradesh allegedly murdered his wife as she was unable to conceive for three years. The man was also upset as his wife had not brought any dowry with her. The man was helped by his family in the murder.
The deceased woman was identified as Priti. Priti was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mukarpuri village, Bijnor. She got married to Rohit Kumar around 3 years ago.
At the time of the wedding, Priti’s father gave Kumar the dowry that he could afford. Rohit and his family, however, kept demanding more dowry. Allegedly, the family started torturing Priti for dowry. The family did not stop here, they allegedly taunted the woman for not being able to conceive even after three years of their marriage.
The deceased woman’s father said that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws on Monday. He added that they went to Priti’s house after learning about her death and they saw her body lying on a bed with a rope wrapped around her throat. The other end of the rope was hanging from a fan.
Narendra Kumar Gaur, Seohara station house officer said that the body of the deceased was sent for an autopsy. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Dowry Act. The woman’s husband and others were arrested. Gaur added, “Rest will also be arrested soon. A probe is on.”
