Parliament has said it will soon embark on an exercise of destroying all electoral materials for the 2019 tripartite elections.

Under the Presidential and Elections Act, Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is mandated to deposit to Parliament all electoral electoral materials for record keeping.

Parliament is then supposed to destroy the materials at the end of 12 months.

However, the destruction of the 2019 electoral materials has delayed due to the running court battles where some  candidates successfully challenged outcome of the polls.

But according to Chikondi Kachinjika Deputy Clerk of Parliament responsible for Corporate Affairs, all is now set for parliament to undertake the exercise.

According to Kachinjika very soon parliament will be inviting all relevant stakeholders to witness the process.
