In an unfortunate incident that occurred in Zimbabwe’s Bulawayo city, a woman was gang raped in front of her children and husband by armed robbers who forced their way into their family home.
The attack was reportedly orchestrated by a gang of knife-wielding robbers who swooped on the couple and robbed them of cash and other valuables before assaulting the wife.
B-Metro reports that after assaulting the wife the robbers then proceeded to gang rape the innocent lady in front of her wailing children and husband.
The incident took place on Christmas Eve around at 8 PM when the couple and their kids were fast asleep.
A family source who chose anonymity said the husband was alerted to unusual noises coming from the kitchen and rushed to investigate.
“He wrapped himself with a towel and rushed to check what was happening, he got the shock of his life when he saw four men standing in the kitchen. Fear gripped him as the two of the accomplices grabbed him by the neck and pointed a knife to his face while warning him not to scream, he never screamed, said the family source.
The four robbers then demanded cash and valuable items while threatening to kill the husband.
The robbers then went to the bedroom where they bashed the wife with sticks on the buttocks and took turns to rape her.
“They took turns to rape her without protection in front of her children who were crying. After committing the horrendous act they fled,” the source added.
On the following day, the couple reported the unfortunate crime to Police.
Inspector Abednico Ncube, Bulawayo’s police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying investigations were underway.
“We confirm that we are investigating a case of unlawful entry, rape and robbery. We are making some follow-ups. This was an unfortunate situation where four unknown men broke into a house and raped a woman in front of her children.
“We urge members of the public to come up with information to help the police to arrest these robbers because we believe these robbers are not from the Mars but are from the community and someone knows them,” he said.
