Government has described the death of Traditional Authority (T/A) Nkula of Machinga District as a blow both to his subjects and the nation.

Deputy Minister of Local Government Hon. Halima Daud said this during the funeral ceremony of the departed chief at Nkula Headquarters in the district.

Daud asked the royal family to mourn peacefully and also provide the rightful person for the throne as soon as possible.

She lamented that government has lost a humble and development oriented chief.

Chief Nkula died on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 after an asthma attack.

The departed 59 year old chief was installed as a T/A in 2016.

He is survived by two wives, 17 children and 46 grandchildren.
