New Building Society (NBS) Bank Blantyre Service Centre has been closed indefinitely after some staff members tested positive for COVID-19, faceofmalawi can reveal.

This has been confirmed in a statement released by management made available to faceofmalawi, saying the bank will re-open for business from Monday next week.

“Kindly be informed that we will be temporarily closing Blantyre Service Centre from January 8, 2021 and will re-open on Monday, 11 January 2021.During this period the bank will be carrying out disinfection exercise as a precautionary measure due to Covid-19 positive case that has been reported in the building in which Blantyre Service Centre is housed.

“We therefore urge our customers to use our digital platforms or visits Ginnery Corner,Chichiri and Limbe Service Centre to access banking services. Safety of our staff and customers is our priority during this pandemic and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” reads in part the statement.

The country is experiencing sharp rise in COVID-19 cases and in the past 24 hours the country has recorded 274 new cases.

Meanwhile Minister of Transport Muhammad Sidik Mia and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo have both tested positive for COVID-19.
