Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President Muhammad Sidik Mia who is also Minister of Transport has tested positive for coronavirus.
Mia confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by this publication, saying he is currently on self isolation at his home.
“I wish to inform you that I have tested positive for Covid 19.
“I have self-isolated at home. I have mild symptoms and my condition is very stable,” said Mia.
He added: “I advise anyone who has been in close contact with me these past days to please get tested.”
“I urge you all dear friends to PLEASE adhere to the covid safety guidelines. Covid is real.”
Mia has since hailed health workers for their dedication and the remarkable job they are doing in fighting the pandemic.
