Retired businessman Thom Mpinganjira has refuted claims that he is planning to contests for the post of President in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) during elective conference.

The past two days the social media has been awash with photos of aspirants in DPP’s Presidential race and one of the pictures carried the face of Thom Mpinganjira who is answering bribery charges in court.

But Mpinganjira has distanced himself from the pictures, saying he has no intention to join politics.

“This is fake,I am not contesting for any position in any political party,” said Mpinganjira in an interview with the press.

Mpinganjira is suspected to be one of the DPP cadets in the country.

This can be witness in case where he is accused of attempting to bribe constitutional court Judges who were handling the Presidential case.

So far three people namely, Kondwani Nankhumwa, DPP Vice President for the South, Bright Msaka, DPP Vice President for Eastern Region and former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dalitso Kabambe have expressed interest to contest for the Presidency post in DPP.

Meanwhile it is not known as to when the party will hold its elective conference.
