The veteran broadcaster Maria Chidzanja Nkhoma has been laid to rest after she died from Covid-19 in the early hours of Saturday Morning at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) isolation center.
Chidzanja Nkhoma, until her death was working with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) as heard of Section for Women and Children desk.
According to ZBS management, Chidzanja Nkhoma was receiving Covid-19 treatment at Kamuzu Central Hospital after she tested positive for the virus.
She has been laid to rest at Chinsapo 1 cemetery in the capital Lilongwe today January 9, 2021, funeral ceremony is said to be held on Saturday 16, 2021 where laying of wreath and other activities are expected to take place.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Information Gospel Kazako described Chidzanja Nkhoma as a caring parent and someone who loved her job with passionate.
Kazako added that the gap that Chidzanja Nkhoma has left will never be replaced.
The late Chidzanja Nkhoma has also worked with the state broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) in the 80sand was also a member of MBC Band.
Around 1994 she worked with South African media house under South Africa Broadcasting Station (SABC) before volunteering to work at Alinafe Radio.
She is also the lead voice in the Kunali John Chilembwe song.
