The body of late Ernest Kantchentche who until his death was Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information has been laid to rest at Area 18 cemetery in Lilongwe.
Kantchentche died of COVID-19 this morning at Kamuzu Central Hospital.
Minister of Information and Communication Technology Gospel Kazako confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
Over the last 24 hours, the country has registered 269 new infections.
There have also been 15 new recoveries and 5 new deaths.
This now means that active cases are at 2,316.
Fatalities have now reached 225.
With the latest recoveries, a total of 5,824 have recovered.
Since the first case was recorded last year, there have been a total of 8,565 confirmed cases.
