The family of Malawi’s deputy Minister of Lands Abida Mia has refuted claims that the minster is critically ill, saying that she is health and sound.
The assurance comes against some propagated lies that are making rounds on social media the Minister is sick.
In brief statement from Abida’s family who is also Member of Parliament (MP) for Chikwawa Nkombezi said that the minister was just mourning her husband Sidik Mia who succumbed to Covid-19 on Tuesday is fit and well.
“The claims making rounds on social media that Abida Mia is critically ill are inaccurate and unfounded. Many people saw the deputy minister during the funeral of her late husband, Muhammed Sidik Mia on Tuesday January 12, 2021.
“Though devastated by the untimely demise of her dear husband, Abida Mia was physically strong and could walk unaided. We have also confirmed with both her Personal Assistant and Public Relations Officer who both refute the claims that Abida Mia is critically ill.
Concludes family statement, “The general public is therefore advised to disregard the information circulating on social media that Abida Mia is not well.
On Tuesday, January 12, Malawi lost two cabinet minister to Covid-19 that President Lazarus Chakwera declared state of disaster to urgent attention.
As on Tuesday, Malawi had 9400 Covid-19 case with 254 death out of 98864 tests since March 2020.
