A police officer accused of releasing a female detainee from a Police Station in Kenya and taking her to his house where he allegedly raped her has been interdicted.

On Monday, the police constable identified as Timothy Cheche was arraigned but the alleged victim produced an affidavit informing the court that she was no longer interested in pursuing the case and had in fact forgiven the suspect.

“She produced a sworn affidavit dated January 10, 2021, and informed the court that she had forgiven him and wished to withdraw the case,” a report seen by Mediamax Digital filed at the station read in part.

Based on the affidavit, the case was withdrawn but the police officer was interdicted pending completion of an internal inquiry on the incident.
