Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Central Committee is set to meet to strategies on the possible replacement of the party’s Vice President following the death of Mohammad Sidik Mia.

Mia who was also Minister of Transport died last week after testing positive to COVID-19.

Apart from Mia, the party also lost Lingson Belekanyama who was Director of Research and Minister of Local Government and Rural development.

MCP Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Mkaka, its only the central committee and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who will decide on the matter.

Meanwhile it is not known as to when the Central committee will hold its meeting
