Mangochi Secondary School has been temporarily closed after half f the students tested positive for Coronavirus.

Mangochi District Health Officer Dr. Kondwani Mamba confirmed of the development.

According to Mamba, 95 students out of 147 boarding students tested positive for the global pandemic virus.

He added that the highest number of student positive for the virus are girls who stand at 82 and 13 are boys.

Considering that the development has come at a time when form 4 students are sitting for Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams, Mamba said those writing the exams will be under strict Covid-19 rules.

President Lazarus Chakwera announced that schools should be temporarily closed for three weeks leaving out those in boarding school to be cleared by health personnel.

Meanwhile, Malawi s registering high cases of Covid-19 on a daily basis in the second wave with a number of people succumbing to the virus.
