A 16 years old boy has died after being stabbed during an incident at East Road, East Wall, in Dublin on Tuesday night.
Irish broadcaster RTÉ has reported that the victim was 16 years old, Josh Dunne, from north Dublin, who died after the stabbing during a row at East Road, East Wall on Tuesday night at around 9:20 pm.
The 16-year-old was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Gardai have now launched a murder investigation into the stabbing and are asking witnesses of the incident or anyone in the area at the time to come forward.
The victim was one of two teens initially taken to hospital after a row broke out between a group of teen boys and girls along with some adults, one of whom believed to be a delivery driver.
A short time later, a third male presented at the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.
East Road is still sealed off by Gardai and traffic diversions are in place to keep the public away from the scene.
He said,
“With a heavy heart I pass my condolences onto the family of the deceased. I was on scene last night the community as a whole are in shock at such an incident.”
The full Garda statement reads, “Gardaí are currently investigating all the circumstances of a fatal assault and associated incidents which occurred this evening on East Road, East Wall, Dublin 3, 26th January 2020.
“At approximately 09:20pm Gardaí received report of a public order incident occurring on East Road, East Wall.
“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and two juvenile males were taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
“One of the juvenile males has subsequently been pronounced dead in the Mater Hospital.
“A third male has since presented to the Mater Hospital to be treated for injuries.
