In Zambia, four people from the same family have been arrested in connection with the burial that took place in front of their brother’s house whom they had accused of practicing witchcraft, this publication has learnt.
According to police, this happened on Saturday after the death of Micah Nalwimba two days earlier.
The deceased is said to have collapsed in her filed and was admitted at a hospital in Isoka where she died afterwards.
The suspects believed their brother was the one behind the death of the deceased hence they resorted to bury the body outside his house.
The suspects are to appeared in court as police hunt for other unknown suspects who played a role in the shocking incident.
The incident happened just days after a newly appointed police commissioner met with local chiefs in the area to discuss various issues such as accusing people of practicing witchcraft.
“As Police, we shall not sit idle and watch innocent elderly citizens be labeled as wizards which will later culminate to murder. I must commend traditional authorities for their noble action to have the matter urgently brought to the attention of the police,” Ms Machina is quoted as saying.
The four suspects have been named as Febby Nalwimba,53, Dorothy Nalwimba, 46, Idah Nalwimba, 67, and Black Mutambo aged 67.
