The Mental Expert Ndumanene Devlin Silungwe has said that turning of Bingu National Stadium as a Field Hospital has a potential to bring distress or anxiety as they would be the thinking that the disease might spread in their area

The Mental Expert disclosed this during an exclusive interview today.

“It is unlikely that it will bring mental disease, but it is possible to bring distress or anxiety on the thinking that the disease might spread in their area” he said

Ndumanene has therefore urged the general public to use credible informational sources to avoid misinformation so as to live in a stress free environment.

” The public must use formal sources to receive information about the pandemic.Avoid reckless peddling of fake news about the disease and getting entangled in conspiracy theories” he uttered.

Ndumanene has also added that people should make sure that they safeguard themselves against fear and if possible exit social media groups that leave them anxious all the time.

On his part co-chairpeson of Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Dr.John Phuka has advised the public to raise concerns through established structures.

” We did community sensitization so they should raise the concerns through established structures” Phuka said

So far Government has put in place strict measures at BNS to contain further spread of the virus, which among them include vending and loitering around the Field Hospital is strictly prohibited, sporting and recreational activities around the Field Hospital have been suspended and no visitors will be allowed inside the facility.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on 31st January, 2021 opened Bingu National Stadium as a Field Hospital in an effort to provide adequate space and improve quality of care to severe COVID-19 patients, a development that has brought about mixed reactions to people surrounding the facility.
