Ntcheu Senior Resident Magistrate Yohane Munthali has sentenced two men aged 44 and 24 to 21 years imprisonment each for defiling two girls in separate incidents last year.
In the first case, State prosecutor Sub Inspector Madalitso Msikiti told the court that the 44-year-old man repeatedly defiled his 15-year-old step daughter in 2020 after coaxing her with K2,000 and threatening her with death.
The man eventually ended up impregnating his step daughter.
In the second case, the state, through Inspector Samie Liwonde, told the court that James Hadson, 24, defiled a six-year-old girl in October last year.
Hadson, who was a servant to the girl’s parents, defiled the girl when she went to Livulezi River to take a bath.
According to Ntcheu Police Spokesperson Hastings Chigalu, in 2020 the district registered 76 defilement cases compared to 36 in 2019.
