Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter has expressed shock over the untimely death of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Radio 2FM Presenter Juliet Royo.
Royo passed on at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre in the evening of Thursday, February 4, 2021, hours after giving birth to twins, according to inside sources.
In a statement signed by MISA Malawi Chairperson Tereza Ndanga, the media body said Royo was inspired many up-and-coming broadcasters.
“Royo was an experienced youthful radio personality who inspired many up-and-coming broadcasters. Her passion for the media sector will remain in our hearts.
“Our condolences go to Royo’s family, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation and the media fraternity,” said Ndanga in the statement.
The body of Royo will be laid to rest today at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre.
She worked as a presenter at the public broadcaster for over 10 years.
Many Radio 2FM listeners will remember Royo for programmes like The Breakfast Show, Lunch Time Listening and Sunset Drive.
In recent years, she became a darling of so many young people for Spotlight , a programme that features prominent personalities in entertainment and other circles.
