The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) is joining President Lazarus Chakwera in demanding transparency in the expenditure of Covid 19 response funds.

Last night, Chakwera gave controlling officers and heads of clusters 48 hours to explain the expenditure of K6.2 billion from the Treasury.

These funds were disbursed to various government departments for various activities relating to the pandemic.

There are fears of massive abuse of Covid 19 response funds, as the corporate world is also making huge financial donations to the government.

Meanwhile, the HRDC National Coordinator Luke Tembo reveals that they are also waiting for a detailed report from the Ministry of Health on how they have so far used the Covid19 funds.
