Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) Member of Parliament for Ndirande Malabada constituency Ismael Mkumba has urged people in his constituency to follow Covid 19 guidelines put in place by government through the Presidential Task Force on Covid 19.

Mkumba said people are facing problems and their income generating capacity has gone down since the Covid 19 rules were set by the previous administration.

“We as legislators there is nothing that we can do on our own since we rely on government and constituencies are too big. We are just waiting when parliament meet to raise our concerns on what needs to be done,” he said.

The UDF Parliamentarian said so far no any organization has approached him for help.

He said many organizations are forwarding their help through the Presidential Task Force, First lady and others are going straight to referral hospitals to give their help.

“We would want people to assist something in terms of subsidy for business persons because they are going through hard times since their time of doing business has been reduced,” said.

Mkumba said commercial sex workers approached him saying that they are failing to feed their children, pay rents and other things.

He has since urged people in his constituency to follow what government is saying because life is paramount than anything adding that the Presidential Task Force on Covid 19 has a team of healthy experts who know better than us when it comes to issues of saving lives.

Mkumba has also asked people in his constituency to avoid being in large numbers and rush to the hospital if they suspect any symptoms of the pandemic.
