Reports reaching this publication indicates that angry community on Monday evening attacked an Ambulance carrying the remains of COVID-19 victim in Mchinji district.
The Ambulance also carried a team of health workers who were supposed to bury the deceased as required.
The incident happened in the area of Kayembe village under Senior Chief Dambe in the district.
The community insisted that their relation died of other illnesses.
Director of Health and Social Services for Mchinji, Dr. Juliana Kanyengambeta, said the villagers also smashed an ambulance the team was using.
The body of the deceased is currently at Mchinji District Hospital Mortuary.
