Police in Kenya are investigating circumstances surrounding the disturbing deaths of a man and his wife in Mlolongo, Machakos County.

Bodies of the two had decomposed in their house located near Tuffoam Mattresses Ltd. factory in Mlolongo, Athi River. It is suspected the couple died on Sunday, local publication K24Digital reports.

The woman, in her early 30s, was found lying in a head-down position on their bed with a heavy metallic chain tied around her neck.

A few meters from the woman, was her husband’s body, which was hanging from a rope tied to the roof of the house.

Confirming the incident, Mlolongo Deputy County Commissioner Dennis Oganga told K24 Digital that no commotion had been reported as emanating from the couple’s house by neighbours.

“The 35-year-old man and his wife are said to have moved into the neighbourhood recently, and residents claim the two were inseparable,” said Oganga.

Police say the couple had prepared supper — beef and ugali (Nsima) — which they had not eaten.

The couple’s bodies were taken to Shalom Hospital mortuary in Athi River.

Homicide detectives have since embarked on investigations into the partners’ deaths.
