Police in the capital Lilongwe have arrested five suspects who have been terrolizing Area 25.
National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
Three were arrested for theft, one for breaking into a building and the other suspect for being found in possession of house breaking tools (hacksaws) and offensive weapon (Panga knife).
“Police is assuring residents of Area 25 and surrounding townships of its visibility through day and night patrols to reduce the fear of crime among residents. Intelligence collection has also been strengthened to arrest any criminals attempting to terrorise the areas,” reads in part the statement.
The five suspects are currently in police custody at Kanengo Police Station awaiting a court appearance.
