The Tonse administration is pleading for patience among the citizenry on unfulfilled campaign promises, eight months after forming the new government.

President Lazarus Chakwera led the 9 member Tonse alliance into the fresh presidential election with several campaign promises yet to be fulfilled.

The promises include the creation of one million jobs in the first year, introduction of a duty free week and reduction of passport fees by over 70 percent.

The current plunder of Covid 19 response funds under the Tonse administration has also angered the citizenry.

The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Gift Trapence pushes the Tonse administration to go beyond rhetoric;

But Foreign Affairs Minister Eisenhower Mkaka who is also Secretary General of the governing Malawi Congress Party (MCP) appeals for patience.
