The Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) has faulted President Lazarus Chakwera for failing to act on cabinet ministers in the Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19, over mismanagement of Covid-19.
Chakwera has only fired Dr John Phuka, co- chairperson of the taskforce, James Chiusiwa, commissioner of Dodma and suspended heads of Covid-19 clusters.
According to Gift Trapence, leader of HRDC, Chakwera acknowledged that there is a problem in the leadership for clusters, hence the best solution was also to replace the ministers involved.
Trapence argued that it is the ministers who failed to ensure that correct information was included in the expenditure reports and ensuring that no one defies the president directive of submitting Covid-19 weekly expenditure reports.
Meanwhile, Chakwera has also suspended heads of clusters who failed to submit their reports to his office.
