The law enforcers on Monday night assaulted two popular musicians for allegedly flouting COVID-19 measures in Lilongwe.

The two artists have been identified as Janta and Henwood.

It is alleged that the two were stopped by the law enforcers when they were driving in the city and forced out of the car.

The heavily armed also smashed Janta’s vehicle in the process.

‘Divorce’ hit-maker confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official facebook page seen by this publication.

“Mpaka kundiphwanyila galimoto beating anthu ngati akuba… Chilungamo Chidziwika,” wrote Janta.

Last month President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera declared the country as a state of disaster and asked for help from well-wishers.

Chakwera in conjunction with the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 instituted new measures aimed at controlling the spread of the pandemic.

The Presidential Task Force then urged the law enforcers to enforce the new measures such as mandatory wearing of face masks.
