A 43 year old woman has died after a boat she was travelling in capsized on Lake Chilwa in Zomba.
According to Zomba Police deputy publicist, Patrick Maseko, the deceased, Manesi Edward, was in the company of three other people when the boat capsized due to heavy winds.
Maseko said the incident happened yesterday around 4:00 pm close to Chisi Island, where the three men in the boat managed to swim to the shore while the lady drowned.
The deceased was rushed to Zomba Central Hospital where a postmortem confirmed she died due to suffocation.
