Fiscal Police in Lilongwe have arrested 10 officials from Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA) in connection with the infamous K6.2 billion covid-19 funds scandal.
The number has now reached to 11 after the arrest of Deputy Director of DODMA Fyawupi Mwafongo two days ago.
Confirming the arrest of the officials, police said they have been arrested in connection with alleged misuse of part of K6.2 billion.
DODMA spokesperson Chipiliro Khamula is among the arrested officials.
Police have said the people are likely to be charged with theft by public servant.
The suspects are being kept in different police stations.
