Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA) has commended government’s decision to have schools reopened on Monday, February, 22 after five weeks of closure.
Yesterday, Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda announced that all schools should reopen on Monday adding that they should strictly follow covid-19 measures to halt the spread of the virus among students and teachers.
ISAMA president Joseph Patel said the development is welcome adding that independent schools are ready to comply with government’s instituted Covid-19 preventive measure.
Yesterday, ISAMA wrote the Ministry of Health asking for a waiver to have private schools reopen on February 22 in case government decides to extend school closure.
The reopen of schools follow the drop in Covid-19 cases as more people are now recovering.
