As the battle for Presidency in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) continues, former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe engaged with party supporters in Phalombe today.
Kabambe confirmed of the development in a statement posted on his official faceboook page seen by this publication.
“I have started engaging with members of the mighty Democratic Progressive Party ahead of our convention.
“This morning, I was in Phalombe where I introduced myself to the members. I told them of my plans to contest at the convention and urged them to remain firm in their belief of the vision and principles of the DPP,” wrote Kabambe.
He added: “This afternoon, I am meeting yet another group in Chiradzulu. I look forward to your support, Malawians, on this journey I have embarked on.”
Kabambe joined DPP two months ago and was welcomed by the party regional governor for the South Charles Mchacha.
According to inside sources, Kabambe is the preferred candidate for the party President Peter Mutharika.
Currently four top DPP top officials namely; Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also leader of opposition, Bright Msaka, Joseph Mwanamvekha and Kabambe are vying for Presidency in the party.
Meanwhile it is not known as to when the party will go to elective conference.
