A daughter was left facing the ‘ultimate betrayal’ when she returned home with her newborn to find that her boyfriend had entered a relationship with her mother.

Jess Aldridge, 24, was expecting her second child with boyfriend Ryan Shelton, 29, when the pair decided to move in with her mother Georgina, 44, and her husband Eric at their £270,000 home in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire as part of a support bubble.

However when Ms Aldridge returned from the hospital with her newborn son Reuben she discovered the grandmother-of-six and her boyfriend had moved into a new home 30 miles away.

The 24-year-old, who previously worked as a housekeeper at a Premier Inn in Chipping Norton, Oxon, before having her daughter Georgiana in 2019, said her mother first started flirting with Ryan within weeks of their moving in.

When Ms Aldridge confronted her mum, she shrugged and said: ‘We can’t help who we fall in love with.’

A ‘heartbroken’ Ms Aldridge told The Sun: ‘It’s the ultimate betrayal. You expect a new grandmother to fall in love with the baby — not the father.

‘She is meant to be a granny to my two children and helping me look after them but instead she’s off sh***ing my boyfriend.’

Ms Aldridge said she first decided to move back in with her mother in the hopes that she would be able to help her with childcare.

However over the course of a few months, Ms Aldridge began to notice Ryan, a car parts salesman, and her mother ‘always being so flirty’ and drinking Bacardi while ‘joking around in the kitchen every night’.

When she confronted the pair about their behaviour they denied anything was happening but Ms Aldridge later discovered the pair had been having a secret affair during her pregnancy.

On January 28, Ms Aldridge welcomed her son Reuben into the world via C- section at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

But just hours later, she received a text message from Ryan, who had only seen Reuben for a few minutes after he was born and for ten minutes the day after, ending their relationship.

After she was discharged, Ms Aldridge was shocked to discover Ryan and her mother had moved out of their home.

They continued to deny they were in a relationship until they were confronted once again two days later.

Describing the moment as a ‘huge kick in the teeth’, Ms Aldridge added: ‘My mum told me she can’t help who she falls in love with and Ryan told me the same thing.’

The pair have now confirmed that they are a relationship on Facebook.

Ms Aldridge said her mother – who had been married once before – had previously spoken to her about wanting to separate from her husband of 12 years Eric a few weeks before she went into hospital.

She also claims that neither her mother nor Ryan have apologised to her.

The mother-of-two has now returned to the £439-a-month two-bed rented home she used to live in with Ryan.
