Donald Trump appears to be serious about setting up his own social media site and has even started meeting with people to make that dream a reality.

Last week, the former President suggested he could start his own rival platform to the likes of Facebook or Twitter after he was kicked off both.

While some mocked it as a pipe dream, it seems like he wasn’t joking.

Trump’s Senior Advisor Jason Miller has told Sky News Australia that the former leader has already put the wheels in motion.

“I think there’s a very good chance president Trump could set up his own social media platform – in which case regardless of what the platform is, it’s going to be the biggest once he joins it,” Mr Miller said.

“Folk want to hear what he has to say. Everyone wants to know what he’s doing.

“There have already been a number of meetings about both joining existing social media platforms and potentially setting up brand new social media platforms.”

Trump was booted from nearly all the major social media apps after he continued to claim he had won the 2020 US Election. He was also accused of inciting the Capitol riots.

He was reportedly quite happy at being freed from the grips of social media, however it seems like he wants to get back in the game.

Speaking on Newsmax last week, the 45th President of the United States claimed loads of people are leaving Twitter because he’s no longer on it.

“I’ll tell you it’s not the same when you look at what’s going on with Twitter, I understand it’s become very boring, and millions of people are leaving,” he said.

“They are leaving it because it’s not the same. And I can understand that.”

When asked whether he would want to another social media site, Trump said he was keen but admitted ‘mechanically they can’t handle’ the amount of traffic that would happen if he joined.

He added: “There is also the other option of building your own site because we have more people than anybody. You can literally build your own site.”

So, don’t be surprised if you see a new social media site in the future.
