A Kenyan man in Nyeri County is being hunted by police after confessing to killing his wife, local publication K24Digital reports.

The suspect, on Friday evening (February 19) called his wife on phone, and told her he had fallen ill. He, thereafter, asked his spouse to bring him money for drugs to his work place.

When the woman arrived, the suspect, identified only as Kinyua, asked to speak with her in private.

He took her to a nearby thicket where he stabbed the victim multiple times, killing her on the spot.

The suspect then escaped to an unknown destination.

Later Friday evening, he called a few of his workmates on phone and confessed to having killed his wife.

“He said he murdered her, and dumped her body in the thicket,” one of Kinyua’s workmates told K24Digital.

The couple, who are in their 30s, had previously separated before reuniting recently after holding private talks.

It remains unclear why Kinyua murdered his partner, though friends say the two had been embroiled in unending domestic dispute.

The couple was blessed with two children.

Police say they have launched a spirited hunt for the suspect.

The body of Kinyua’s wife was taken to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital morgue.
