Parliament is this afternoon resuming the midterm budget review meeting of the K2.2 trillion 2020/21 national budget.
The Meeting was previously scheduled to be held from Monday, 8 February, 2021 to Friday 12 March 2021 but was postponed following escalating numbers of Covid-19 cases in the country.
The postponement was to allow Parliament to devise appropriate safety measures for its meetings to safeguard the lives of members of Parliament, staff and all stakeholders.
As such, the Mid-Term Budget Review Meeting of Parliament will combine physical and virtual meetings to be conducted simultaneously.
Through the hybrid method, some Members are expected to be physically present in the Chamber while another group of Members will participate
virtually.
Some of the issues on today’s order paper include a statement by Minister of Agriculture on progress made in the implementation of the Affordable Input Programme. A statement by Minister of Homeland Security on challenges of unregulated Kabaza taxis in Urban Centres.
A statement by Minister of Education on the state of education in Malawi among others.
The K2.2 trillion 2020/21 midterm budget review statement is expected to be delivered in Parliament on Friday.
